About Echo Lake

The route leading to Mount Evans’ peak is recognized as North America’s highest elevated paved road, reaching an altitude of 14,260 feet above the sea. Typically, it welcomes visitors between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Echo Lake presents an enchanting mountainous retreat, complete with picnic areas, opportunities for fishing in the lake, and panoramic views of the snow-covered mountains. To get there, exit I-70 at Exit 240 and follow Colorado Highway 103 to Echo Lake.

The road to Echo Lake is on the highest paved road in North America, climbing 14,260 feet above sea level. This beautiful mountain park offers views of snowcapped peaks, picnic benches for family outings, and great lake fishing. You can grab dinner at the Echo Lake Lodge, a log building built in 1927 with amazing views overlooking the lake. Lots of amazing hikes can be found in this area as well as some great wildlife viewing!
