About Plains Conservation Center

Step into the past and explore the pioneer lifestyle of the mid-19th century on Colorado’s vast high plains at the Plains Conservation Center. This authentic homestead spans 1,100 acres of preserved open land.

This center offers a unique glimpse into the life of pioneers in Colorado, covering more than a thousand acres dedicated to conservation and historical education.

Before embarking on your journey across the trails, stop by the visitor center to grab a map and familiarize yourself with the site’s history. The trails provide a scenic hike with excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and historical significance of the area.
